How does a live action short qualify through festivals?

By winning a specific qualifying award at one of the Academy's qualifying festivals within the qualifying window, which for the 99th Academy Awards runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. Only the named award counts, not a selection or a nomination.
